Pediatricians, Major Medical Groups Ignore RFK Jr.’s New Vaccine Schedule
**New Childhood Vaccine Schedule Raises Concerns Among Pediatricians**

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released new guidelines for childhood vaccinations, which have sparked controversy among pediatric medical professionals. The changes aim to simplify the vaccination schedule by reducing the number of recommended vaccines from 16 to 11.

Under the new guidelines, children who are at higher risk for certain diseases will still receive the full range of recommended vaccines. However, some vaccines, including those for rotavirus, COVID-19, and flu, have been moved to a "clinical decision-making" category, which encourages parents to consult with their doctor before making decisions about vaccination.

Despite the CDC's efforts to simplify the vaccination schedule, many children's medical offices and state health departments are not in compliance with the new guidelines. Some pediatricians are relying on advice from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) instead, which has filed a lawsuit against the CDC to block the changes.

**Concerns Among Pediatricians**

Pediatricians who have seen firsthand the devastating effects of vaccine-preventable diseases are speaking out about the potential risks associated with the new guidelines. They argue that reducing vaccination rates could lead to an increase in outbreaks and put children's lives at risk.

"I've seen infants arrive at our hospital severely dehydrated from rotavirus," said Amanda Furr, MD, chief medical officer of Zarminali Pediatrics. "The changes to the vaccine schedule are confusing and may put everyone's risk at a higher level."

Helena Bentley, MD, owner of Kid Care Pediatrics in Georgia, also expressed concerns about the potential consequences of reducing vaccination rates. She pointed out that diseases such as meningitis can have severe and long-lasting effects on children.

**The Importance of Vaccination**

The CDC has emphasized that all vaccines remain available for families who want them, and insurance must cover the full cost. However, pediatricians are urging parents to consult with their doctor before making decisions about vaccination.

"Vaccines have been instrumental in preventing outbreaks and protecting public health," said Benjamin Lopman, PhD, an epidemiologist at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. "We must continue to prioritize vaccination efforts to maintain the safety and well-being of our communities."
